The reaction is 3AuCl ----> AuCl3 + 3Au The mass of AuCl3 formed = 303.5/3x 232.5. X 6.981 = 3.037g Hence mass of cholrine in 3.037 g of AuCl3 = 3.037- 2.972= 1.06 g In AuCl the mass of cl = 35.5/232.5 X 6.981 = 1.06 g Since mass of chlorine is same in both the chlorides hence ratio of mass of gold in both the chloride is 3:1 , which is a whole no. ratio so the law proved.
