Step-by-step explanation:

Speed = 6km/h

Distance= x km (suppose)

(i) When he runs

Speed=8km

Distance= (6-x)km

Thus, the time taken by him in walking=

(6-x)/8hrs

The total time taken by him in both walking and running= 50min

(ii) x/6 +6-x/8=50/80

4x +18-3x/24=5/6

x+18/24=5/6

6x+108=120

6x=12

x=2

Thus, the distance he covered in walking is 2km.
