A galvanometer is an instrument to measure small electric current.

Figure of merit of any device is a number representing the degree of effectiveness or efficiency of an instrument.

Figure of merit of a galvanometer is the amount of current required to produce a deflection of one division in the galvanometer scale and is represented by K.

Resistance of galvanometer and milliameter.

The milliameter can detect a very small amount of current and so its resistance is low compared to a galvanometer.

Therefore the galvanometer has more resistance than a milliameter.
