According to the question

= 3

 \frac{3x}{5}  + x = 40 \\  \\  \frac{ 8x}{5}  = 40 \\  \\ x =  \frac{ 40 \times 5}{8 }  \\

x = 5 \times 5 \\ x = 25 \\ boys = 25 \\girls =  \frac{3}{5}   \times 25 \\  = 3 \times 5 \\ girls = 15
