6. Simplify the following expressions:
(i) (√5 + √2)^2
(ii) (2 + √3) (2 -√3)

(i) (root 5 + root 2)²

= (root 5)² + 2 × root 5 × root 2 + (root 2)²

[Using identity (a+b)² = a² + 2ab + b²]

= 5 + 2 root 10 + 2

= 7 + 2 root 10

(ii) ( 2 + root 3) ( 2 - root 3)

= (2)² - (root 3)²

[using identity a²-b² = (a+b)(a-b)]

= 4 - 3

= 1
