total money =x
money spent for chocolates and crayons =x/4+x/8= 6x/16=3x/8
left=x-3x/8=5x/8
ATQ
5x/8=40
x=40×8/5
=64
she had rs 64 at the beginning

Answer:

She have Rs.64 in the beginning .

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the initial amount

She spends  1/4 of her pocket money on chocolates

So, amount spent on chocolates = \frac{x}{4}

She spent 1/8 on crayons

So, amount spent on crayons = \frac{x}{8}

So, Total amount spent =  \frac{x}{8}+\frac{x}{4}=\frac{3x}{8}

Amount left = x-\frac{3x}{8} =\frac{5x}{8}

We are given that  At the end she had Rs.40 left.

So, \frac{5x}{8}=40\\5x=320\\x=64

So, She have Rs.64 in the beginning .
