What is the pressure at a point 10 m below the
surface of a lake (see fig.)?
Take g = 10 m s-2; 1 atm = 1.01 <105 Pa;
density of water = 1000 kg/m3

Answer:

Given :  h=10m,  ρ=1000kg/m3,  g=10m/s2

Pressure on swimmer  = pressure of atmosphere + pressure of water

                                      =1atm+ρgh×10−5atm

                                      =1atm+1000×10×10×10−5atm

                                      =2atm
