6 years ago, a man's age was six times the age of his daughter. After 4 years, thrice his age will be equal to eight times his daughter's age. What are their present ages? Find it.

let the age if daughter be x.

hence,mans age will be 6x

now,6 yes ago,hence daughters age/=x-6

man's age=6x-6

after 4 yrs

hence, daughter's age=x-6+4=x-2

man's age=6x-6+4=6x-2

3(6x-2)=18x-6=8(x-2)

18x-6=8x-16

18x-8x=-16+6

10x=-10

x=-1
