man's age=6x-6

after 4 yrs

hence, daughter's age=x-6+4=x-2

man's age=6x-6+4=6x-2

3(6x-2)=18x-6=8(x-2)

18x-6=8x-16

18x-8x=-16+6

10x=-10

x=-1
