Answer:

Answer: Present age of mother = 39, Present age of son = 17

Working: 6 years ago say son’s age was X. so, mother’s age was 3X

Present age of mother = 3X +6, Present age of son = X+6

After 5 years mother’s age = 3X+11, Son’s age = X+11

Given > 3X+11 = 2(X+11) = 2X+22

or, 3X-2X = 22–11

or, X = 11

Hence, present age of mother = 3X+6 = 39 and present age of son = X+6 = 17.
