6 years ago :
x - 6 = 1/ 8 x
8 ( x - 6 ) = 1 × x
8x - 48 = x
7x = 48
x = 48 /7 = 6.8 years
present age x = 6.8 years
age after 3 years will be
= 6.8 + 3 = 9.8 years
= 9 yr 10 months 2 days.
