SOLUTION :

 \\ \\

Given :-

  • Number of people in the shop = 40

  • Persons who bought something = 30% of 40

 \\

To Find :-

  • People who did not buy anything = ?

 \\

Calculation :-

 \\

We have,

  • Total number of people = 40

  • Persons who bought something = 30%

 \\

∴ Number of persons who bought something = 30% of 40

➞ Number of persons who bought something = \sf{\frac{30}{100}} × 40

➞ Number of persons who bought something = 12

 \\

Now,

  • Number of total persons = 40

  • Number of persons who bought something = 12

∴ Number of persons who did not buy anything = Number of total persons — Number of persons who bought something

➜ Number of persons who did not buy anything = 40 — 12

Number of persons who did not buy anything = 28

  • ★ Hence, 28 persons did not buy anything.

Again,

  • Total number of people = 40

  • Persons who did not buy anything = 28

∴ Percentage of persons who did not buy anything = \sf{ \frac{Persons \: \: who \: \: did \: \: not \: \: buy \: \: anything}{Number \: \: of \: \: total \: \: persons}} × 100

➜ Percentage of persons who did not buy anything = \sf{\frac{28}{40}} × 100

Percentage of persons who did not buy anything = 70%

  • 70% of the total people did not buy anything.
