Answer:

I am not sure about it but check it out

600 soldiers food lasts for 14 days

600×14(EQ-1)

After 4 days soldiers get transferred

No. of days=14-4=10( 600 Soldiers eats food for 4 days so food quantity gets only for 10 days)

600×10(EQ-2)

Let soldiers left be X

SO,X×10

When soldiers that left (X) food storage get 30 more days so

X×10+30

X×40(EQ-3)

FROM EQ 1,2,3

600×10=X×40

X=6000÷40

X=150

Soldiers get transferred is 150.

Solution is 150 soldiers left the fort.

140

Given that 600 soldiers had enough food for 30 days.

Let the numbers of soldiers left the fort be 'x'.

After 6 days, for 600 soldiers food would last for (30 - 6) = 24 days.

Given that food lasted for 40 days.

Inverse Proportion:

⇒ 600 * 24 = (600 - x) * 40

⇒ 14400 = 24000 - 40x

⇒ 9600 = -40x

⇒ x = 240.

Therefore, the number of soldiers left the fort is 240.
