66 cm^3 of oxygen was mixed with 44 cm^3 of carbonmonoxide and the mixture ignited. Calculate thevolume of oxygen used up and the volume ofcarbon dioxide so formed.​

2CO + O2 --->2CO2

2moles of CO + 1mole of O2 ----> 2moles of CO2

Moles of CO/Moles of O2  =2/1=2 -----------(1)

20 ml of CO  reacts with 10 ml of O2 to produce 20 ml of CO2

But 20 ml of O2 remains unreacted.It is limiting reagent here.

Volume of Final mixture=20ml of CO2+20ml of O2 

                                         =40ml 

The final volume of the gases is 40ml
