(70 - 2)(70 + 3) \\ \\ 70(70 + 3) - 2(70 + 3) \\ \\ 4900 + 210 - 140 - 6 \\ = 5110 - 416 \\ = 4694

Hey there!

68 * 73

= ( 70 - 2) ( 70 + 3 )

= 70² + (3 - 2 ) 70 - 2 × 3

= 4900 + 70 - 6

= 4964

Here, We have used simplification using identities.

( x - a) ( x - b)

= x ( x - b ) - a ( x - b)

= x² -ax -bx + ab

= x² - (a + b) x + ab.

That is, ( x - a) ( x - b) = x² - (a + b) x + ab.

Hope helped
