What is a Number line?

A Line where numbers are denoted (Positive and negative) is a number line. This number line can be extended upto infinity on both the sides. It has 0 in its centre, On the right side lies the positive numbers and on the left side lies the negative. On the Contrary we can even locate fractions on it.

Representing a Fraction on the number line

To represent a fraction on the number line, Follow the below steps:

1) Draw a Number line

2) Mark 0 at the centre

3) Extend the line towards positive/negative by keeping the number given to you in the question in mind.

4) Divide that much parts between two numbers as much is the numerical of the denominator.

5) Here, the denominator is 3, So there would be 3 parts between each two numbers.

6) Denote each division with its fractional number, The first division bar after 0 would be 1/3 followed by 2/3 and so on. 3/3 is itself the whole number 1. Similarly to the negative side also.

7) After denoting, Look where your desired number is and encircle it.
