7. A force acts for 10 s on a stationary body of mass
100 kg after which the force ceases to act. The body
moves through a distance of 100 m in the next 5 s.
Calculate : (i) the velocity acquired by the body,
(ii) the acceleration produced by the force, and (iii)
the magnitude of the force.

initial velocity , u = 0

time = 10 s

mass = 100kg

using,

=> v = u + at

=> v = 10a

distance s = 100m

time = 5 s

distance = velocity x time

=> 100 = 10a x 5

=> a = 2 m/s²

therefore velocity, v = 20 m/s

force = mass x acceleration

= 100 x 2

= 200 N

i) velocity = 20 m/s

(ii) acceleration = 2 m/s²

(iii) magnitude of the force. = 200 N
