Step-by-step explanation:

To add these rational numbers first we have to make the denominators of both the numbers same.

So here, to make the denominators same we have to find the LCM of the denominators. That is, LCM OF 8 AND 6.

To find LCM,Prime factorise 8 and 6.

Factors of 8 = 2 x 2 x 2 = 2³

Factors of 6 = 2 x 3

Now take the highest common numbers and other numbers. So here, 2³ in LCM of 8 and 2 in LCM of 6 can be seen. In that the highest one is 2³, so we take 2³ instead of 2. Now the remaining 3 is also taken. Now multiply both.

2³ x 3 = 8 x 3 = 24

LCM of 8 & 6 = 24

Now lets make the denominators same,

Multiply 7/8 x 3/3 to make the denominator 24.

7/8 x 3/3 = 21/24

Now multiply -1/-6 with 4/4 to make the denominator 24

-1/-6 x 4/4 = -4/-24 = 4/24

Now add both numbers,

4/24 + 21/24 = 25/24
