Given:

Apoorv has only 2 rupee and 5 rupee coins in  his piggy bank

The total value of the coins is  132

If the number of 2 rupee coins is 3 times  the number of 5 rupee coins

To find:

The number of  each type of coins.

Solution:

Let's assume,

"x" → no. of 2 rupee coin

"y" → no. of 5 rupee coin

We are given that the number of 2 rupee coins is 3 times  the number of 5 rupee coins, so the eq. will be:

x = 3y ..... (i)

Also given that the total value of 2 rupees and 5 rupees coins is Rs. 132, so the eq. will be:

2x + 5y = 132

substituting the value of x from eq. (i)

⇒ 2(3y) + 5y = 132

⇒ 6y + 5y = 132

⇒ 11y = 132

y = 12

∴ x = 3y = 3 × 12 = 36

Thus,

\boxed{\bold{No.\:of \:2\:rupee\:coins\:are\:\underline{36}}}.\\\\ and\\\\\boxed{\bold{No.\:of \:5\:rupee\:coins\:are\:\underline{12}}}.
