Given:

Diameter of the hole (D)=25\ mm=1\times inch

The Thickness of the sheet (t)=32\  mm=\dfrac{1}{8}

The tensile strength of titanium alloy at room temperature (σ_{t})=1000\ Mpa

shear strength of titanium alloy at room temperature(T)=44\ Gpa=44000\ MPa

To Find:

Punching force (F)=?

Solution:

Use the formula of punching force

F=0.7\times T\times L\times UTS\\=[0.7\times\dfrac{1}{8}\times\pi \times1\times140000 ]\\=38484.5 lbf

Therefore, the force required for punching is 38484.5 lbf or 1.8\times10^{5}\ N.
