Answer:

Shirt: Trousers

3: 2

Let shirt material be= 3x

Let trouser material be= 2x

Cost of shirt material= 3x× $50

= $150x

Cost of trouser material= 2x× $90

= $180x

Profit on shirt material= 12%

⇒ 150x+ [12/100×150x]

= 150x+ 18x

= 168x

Profit on trouser material= 10%

⇒ 180x+ [10/100× 180x]

= 180x+ 18x

= 198x

Total profits= 168x+ 198x

= 366x

Total sales= $36,600

⇒ 366x= 36600

⇒ x= 36600/366

⇒ x= 100

Shirt material= 3x

= 300 metres

Trouser material= 2x

= 200 metres

VERIFY:

Shirt material= 300 m

Cost of shirt material= $50/m

Total cost= $15000

Profit= 12%

12/100× 15000

= 1800

Total sale of shirt= 15000+ 1800

= $16800

Trouser material= 200 m

Cost per metre= $90

Total cost= $18000

Profit= 10%

10/100× 18000

= 1800

Total sale of trouser= 18000+ 1800

= 19800

Total sale= 16800+ 19800

= $36,600
