given

sum=3p2+4p   (1)

replace p with p-1

sum=3(p-1)^2 + 4(p-1)

      =3(p^2 +1 -2p) + 4p-4

      = 3p^2 + 3 -6p + 4p -4

       =   3p^2 -2p -1    (2)

now ,

subtracting we get 1 and 2

nth term =3p2+4p - (3p^2 -2p -1)

              =  6p + 1

now,  let me explain, if the sum of first 5 is terms is 10 .This subtracted by sum of first 4 terms that is 8 then we will get the 5th term as 2.
