Let the ratio be k:1

A(3,-6); B(5,-3); X(x,0)

x=M2X1+M1X2/M1+M2

y=M2Y1+M1Y2/M1+M2

x=1(3)+k(5)/k+1 ...(1)

y=1(-6)+k(3)/k+1

0=-6+3k/k+1

0(k+1)=-6+3k

0=-6+3k

6=3k

k=6/3

k=3

putting k=3 in (1)

x=3+3(5)/3+1

x=3+15/4

x=18/4

x=9/2=4.5

Hence, the ratio in which line segment is divided by x axis is 3:1. And, the coordinate of point of intersection is (4.5,0).
