7. In a tourist bus, there are certain number of seats. If 3 persons can sit in each seat, find the minimum number of such seats for accommodating 70 passengers.
[Note that in the last seat only one passenger can sit and the remaining space will be vacant

In this question we need to divide the total number of passengers by the number of passengers who can sit on one seat then add the last seat on which only one can sit.

On dividing 70 passengers by 3(which is the number of passengers who can sit on one seat).

On dividing we would get 29 as the quotient and 1 as the remainder.

The remainder is the passenger who would travel alone with two vacant seats .

So as it is mentioned above that to get the number of seats we will have to

add the total number of seats on which 3 passengers are travelling with the number of seats on which the alone passenger is travelling with 2 vacant seats.

=29(the seats on which three passengers are sitting )+1(the seat on which the alone passenger is travelling)=30 seats.

So the bus needs at least 30 seats to accommodate 70 passengers.
