7. The ages of Ramu and Vidya are in the ratio 5 : 7. Four years later, the sum of their
ages will be 56 years. What are their present ages. (AS-II. I)

Let Ramu's age = 5x

Vidya's age = 7x

ATQ

5x + 4 + 7x + 4 = 56

12x + 8 = 56

4(3x + 2) = 4 × 14

3x + 2 = 14

3x = 14 - 2

3x = 12

x = 12/3

x = 4

Ramu's age = 5 × 4

= 20 years

Vidya's age = 7 × 4

= 28 years
