7. The mean of 15 observations is 32. Find the
resulting mean, if each observation is :
(i) increased by 3
(ii) decreased by 1​

Concept :- If the each observation is increased, decreased, multiplied or divided by the same number than the mean is also increased, decreased, multiplied or divided by the same number.

Solution :-

i) Here, each observation is increased by 3 -

So the mean will also be increased by 3 -

New Mean = 32 + 3 = 35

Resulting mean = 35

ii) Here, each observation is decreased by 1 -

So the mean will also be decreased by 1 -

New Mean = 32 - 1 = 31

Resulting mean = 31
