Answer:

a) 2*(2x+1)

b) Length = 40m

Breadth= 39m

Step-by-step explanation:

a) Let breadth = x

So, length = x+1

Perimeter = 2*( x+1+x)

= 2*(2x+1)

b) By the question,

2*(2x+1)=158

2x+1= 158/2

2x+1= 79

2x=79-1

2x=78

x= 39

Therefore Length = x+1

= 39+1=40 m.

Breadth =x= 39 m

let the breadth be x m

then, length=x+1

perimeter=158 m ( a)l=p/b and b=p/l

but ,P=2(x+1+x)

so,158=2(x+1+x)

158/2=(2x+1)

79 =2x+1

79-1=2x

78/2=x

39 =x

(b) so,b=39 m and l=40 m
