Given:

  • Ratio between length and breadth = 5:4
  • The area = 320 \:  {cm}^{2}

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Need to find:

  • The breadth of rectangle =?

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Solution:

Let the common multiple of length and breadth be x,

Then:

  • Length = 5x
  • Breadth = 4x

We know,

Are of a rectangle = length × breadth

→ Area of rectangle = 5x × 4x

→ Area of rectangle = 20 {x}^{2} --i

━━━━━━━━━

Given area of rectangle = 320 {cm}^{2} ---ii

Equating i and ii we get,

320 = 20 {x}^{2}

 {x}^{2}  = 320 \div 20

 {x}^{2}  = 16

x = \pm 4

The length or breath can't be negative so x= 4

Now

Breadth = 4x

→Breadth= 4 × 4 cm

Breadth = 16cm
