Explanation:

Their sanity.

Losing freedom, which may include freedom from any kind of oppression, or freedom from one's current job, or freedom from a bad health, or freedom from anything that one desires for, could take a toll on the way people react.

Losing something that constitutes a great part of our life brings a set back that might become difficult to recover from. And when presented with such situations people often tend to lose their nerve

Explanation:

Losing freedom, which may include freedom from any kind of oppression, or freedom from one's current job, or freedom from a bad health, or freedom from anything that one desires for, could take a toll on the way people react.

Losing something that constitutes a great part of our life brings a set back that might become difficult to recover from. And when presented with such situations people often tend to lose their nerve after all they have been through to see that ray of hope that gets snatched away from them.

Any kind of a shock can get one to lose their mind and react in a way that is not only non desirable but also non permissible.

For an instance let's consider a situation like this. Suppose a person has been struggling to get over someone he/she had felt for strongly but is unable to. In such a case he/she wants freedom from his/her own thoughts and feelings that is holding back. When the situation worsens and they are unable to control their flow of thoughts they get mad and act in a way they were never supposed to.

I will not go into the details but often people lose their mind over something that will not count in their lives over the years and make it a priority over their own lives which leads to disappointment and suicide attempts.
