71 + 2 =  68, 33 - 4 = 20

We have to find the value of 84 ÷ 3 = ?

Solution:

71 + 2 = (7+1)^{2} +2^{2}

          = 8^{2} +4

          = 64 + 4

          = 68

33 - 4  = (3+3)^{2} -4^{2}

          =  6^{2} -16

          = 36 - 16

          = 20

Similarly,

84 ÷ 3 = (8+4)^{2} ÷ 3^{2}

⇒ ?     = 12^{2} ÷ 9

⇒ ?      = 144 ÷ 9

⇒ ?      = 16

Thus, the value of missing number (?) is "equal to 16".
