As the earth has water covered 71% of the Earth, Only about 1% of the total water content is fresh water, which is in the liquid form on the earth surface and as the underground streams.

Explanation:

  • In the total water content, about 97% of the Earth’s water is the ocean water which is salty.
  • And then around 2% of the water is found in the glacier form and in the form of ice sheets.
  • Because of this, the fresh water content used by humans is very little.
  • The water on earth is polluted in many ways by the mixing of wastages, and chemicals from factories and as well the throwing of plastics in the river, ponds etc, will make the fresh water a critical source.
