Mass of the metal = (74.5 - 35.5) g
                             = 39g
Valency of the metal -> 1
Eq. wt. = Molecular mass/ n-factor
As there is only on Chlorine atom in the molecule,
Atomic mass of the metal = 39g
Equivalent weight = 39/1 = 39
