Factoring  7m2-5m-6

The first term is,  7m2  its coefficient is  7 .

The middle term is,  -5m  its coefficient is  -5 .

The last term, "the constant", is  -6

Step-1 : Multiply the coefficient of the first term by the constant   7 • -6 = -42

Step-2 : Find two factors of  -42  whose sum equals the coefficient of the middle term, which is   -5 .

     -42    +    1    =    -41

     -21    +    2    =    -19

     -14    +    3    =    -11

     -7    +    6    =    -1

     -6    +    7    =    1

     -3    +    14    =    11

     -2    +    21    =    19

     -1    +    42    =    41

Observation : No two such factors can be found !!

answer = 7m2 - 5m - 6

Step-by-step explanation:

7m-2=5m+6

add 2 on both sides,

7m-2+2=5m+6+2

7m=5m+8

minus 5m on both sides,

7m-5m=5m-5m+8

2m=8

divide by 2 on both sides,

m=4
