and multiple by 2

14x-4y=2

3x+4y=7

17x =9

x=9/17

x=0.53

then substitute The value of x in equation one

7 (0.53) - 2y = 1

3.7 - 2y = 1

-2y = 1 - 3.7

-2y = -2.7

y = 2.7/2

y = 5.4

Therefore x=0.53 & y=5.4
