7x - 3y = 27

2x + 5y = -4

Find out

x. and. y

Method

Elimination method

Solution

7x - 3y = 27 .........(1)

2x + 5y = -4 .........(2)

Multiple equation (1) with 2

Multiple equation (2) with 7

14x - 6y = 54........(3)

14x + 35y = -28 .........(4)

-41y = 82

- y = 82/41

y = - 2

Put value of y in equation (2)

2x + 5(-2) = -4

2x - 10 = -4

2x = - 4 + 10

2x = 6

x = 6/2

x = 3

So

x = 3

y = -2
