Solve the equation :-

 \sf Q) \: 8 = 2x - 6

Transposing 6 from RHS to LHS, changing it's sign,

 \sf \Rightarrow8 + 6 = 2x

On simplifying,

 \sf \Rightarrow14 = 2x

Transposing 2 from RHS to LHS, changing it's sign,

  \sf \Rightarrow\dfrac{14}{2} = x

Dividing 14 by 2,

 \sf \Rightarrow7 = x

Changing the sides,

 \sf \Rightarrow x = 7.

Verification :-

To check our answer, let's put 7 in place of x and see whether LHS = RHS.

Replacing x by 7, we get :-

RHS

 \sf \Rightarrow2 \times 7 - 6

Applying the BODMAS rule and multiplying 2 by 7 first,

 \sf\Rightarrow14 - 6

Subtracting the numbers,

 \sf\Rightarrow8.

LHS

 \sf\Rightarrow8.

Since LHS = RHS,

Hence verified!
