Answer:

Given data:

Dynamite is 72kg

It contains 54kg of potassium nitrate

and 10.8kg if charcoal

The remaining is sulphur.

To find:

Percentage of sulphur = ?

Solution:

Dynamite = KNO3 + Charcoal + Sulphur

72 = 54 + 10.8 + Sulphur

Therefore, sulphur is 7.2kg

Percentage of sulphur in dynamite

= mass of sulphur × 100

mass of dynamite

= 7.2 × 100

72

= 720

72

= 10%

Therefore, 10% of sulphur is present in dynamite. ______________________________________

Given data:

In an examination,

82% students passed in science and

75% students passed in mathematics

8% students failed in both the subjects

To find:

The percentage of failed students in

mathematics or science or both=?

Solution:

Percentage of failed students in

mathematics = 100 - 75 = 25%

Percentage of failed students in science = 100 - 82 = 18%

Percentage of percentage of failed students in both = 8%
