Hey !
Given,
A bag contains red and black balls
No. of Red balls = 3
No. of Black balls = 5
Let E be the Event that a ball is drawn randomly from bag
and S be the Sample space
Total No. of Balls, n(S)= 8
Probability of occurance of Event 'E' is defined as the ratio of chance of occurance of Event E to the total no. of Outcomes
P(E) = Favorable outcomes/Total No. of Outcomes
=> P(E) = n(E)/n(S)
(i)
Let E be the Event that drawn ball is red
n(E) = 3C1 = 3
n(S) = 8
P(E) = 3/8
•°• Probability that drawn ball is red is 3/8
(ii)
Let E be the Event that drawn ball is not red.
n(E) = 5C1 = 5
n(S) = 8
P(E) = 5/8
•°• Probability that drawn ball is red is 3/8
