8. A person travels a distance of 5 m towards the east, then turns left and travels 12 m
towards the north.
a) What is the total distance travelled by the person?
b) What is his displacement?​

a) What is the total distance travelled by the person?

Ans: 17 metres.

b) What is his displacement?​

Ans: It is a triangle so 5^2+12^2=Displacement^2

      =>25+144=Displacement^2

       =>Displacement^2=169

       => Displacement=Sq.root 169= 13 metres

The total distance travelled =12+5=17

displacement =13

I think so it is correct
