Answer :

Given :-

A student multiplied 7236 by 65 instead of multiplied by 56.

To find :-

by how much was his answer greater than the correct answer ?

Solution :-

Given that

A student multiplied 7236 by 65

On multiplying them

7236×65

_________

36180

43416

_________

470340

_________

7236×65 = 470340

But The actual number = 56

On multiplying 7236 by 56

7236×56

_________

43416

36180

_________

405216

_________

7236×56=405216

So The result with wrong multiplication

= 470340-405216

=65124

or

(7236×65)-(7236×56)

By distributive Property

=> 7236(65-56)

=> 7236×9

=> 65124

The excess value = 65124

Answer:-

His answer 65124 is greater than correct answer

Used formulae:-

Distributive Property:-

a ,b,c are three integers then a×(b+c)=(a×b)+(a×c) is called distributive Property under multiplication over addition in the integers
