mass :

  • mass is a property of matter the mass of an object is the same everywhere .
  • can never be zero
  • mass does not change according to location .
  • mass is a scalar quantity .
  • mass may be measured using an ordinary balance

weight :

  • it does depends on the effect of gravity .increases or decreases with higher or lower Gravity .
  • can be zero if no gravity acts upon an object as in space .
  • weight varies according to location .
  • weight is a vector quantity
  • weight is measured by using the spring balance

ANSWER:-

The mass of an object is a measure of the object's inertial property, or the amount of matter it contains. The weight of an object is a measure of the force exerted on the object by gravity, or the force needed to support it. The pull of gravity on the earth gives an object a downward acceleration of about 9.8 m/s2.
