Bond formation in sf4 by using the concept of hybridization:

First we have to find out the hybridization of given molecule by using below steps

1)find the total number of valance electrons for sf4

Here 6 valance e⊕ in "s" and 7 valance e⊕ in "f" atom.

Total valance electrons=6+4*7

                                      =6+28

                                      =34

2)Divide the total valance electrons by 2 (If the total valance electron is less than 8 and if the total valance electron is grater than 8 then we have to divide it by 8).

if any semiconductor we can consider it as by .

we get the steric number is 4H=5

3)then assign the hybridization according to the steric number

                Steric number                 Hybridization

                           2                                       sp

                           3                                       sp^2

                           4                                       sp^3

                           5                                       sp^3d

                           6                                       sp^3d^2

Bond formation in ccl4 by using hybridization concept:

1)first we have to find the hybridization of ccl4

                               =4+4

                                =8

2)Divide the total valance electron by 2 we get

                                             =8/2

                                             =4

3)Assign the hybridization according to steric number

we get hybridization of sp^3

Then the geometry is tetrahedral

And shape also tetrahedral
