Given -

  • Diameter of cylinder = 28cm

  • Height of cylinder = 20cm

To find -

  • Curved surface area of cylinder.

Formula used -

  • Curved surface area = 2πrh

Solution -

Here in the question, we are provided with the height and diameter of the cylinder. First we need to find the radius of the cylinder, for that we will divide 28cm by 2, as radius is half of diameter.

So -

\longmapsto Radius = \sf\dfrac{Diameter}{2}

\longmapsto Radius = \sf\cancel\dfrac{28}{2}

\longmapsto Radius = 14cm

Now -

We will find the curved surface area of the cylinder by using the formula of CSA of cylinder.

Curved surface area = 2πrh

where -

π = \sf\dfrac{22}{7}

r = Radius

h = Height

On substituting the values -

CSA = 2πrh

CSA = 2 × \sf\dfrac{22}{7} × 14cm × 20cm

CSA = 2× 22 × 2 × 28cm

CSA = 1760 cm²

\therefore Curved surface area of cylinder is 880cm²
