Answer is B.16 days

Given:

8 machines working 20 hours a day can manufacture a certain number of cars in 12 days.

To find:

In how many days will 20 machines manufacture the same number

of cars, working at 6 hours a day?

Solution:

We know, Work = Men × hr/day×days

We have the formulas and we just have to equate them to find out the answer. We have to calculate work 1 and work 2 and then equate them and find the value of days.

work1 = men1 * hr/day1 * days1   [Machines can be placed in terms of men]

= 8*20*12

work2 = men2 * hr/day2 * days2

= 20 * 6 * days2

It can be seen that work is same in both the cases as it is given that sane number of cars are produced.

So, work1  = work2

8*20*12 = 20 * 6 * days2

1920 = 120 * days2

days2 = 1920/120

= 16

Hence, 20 machines will manufacture the same number of cars, working at 6 hours a day in 16 days.
