Given : 8% Of the student at a school are in year 8, and 16 % of the students are In year 9,

the school has 126 year 8 students,

To Find : the number of year 9 students

Solution:

Let say Total Students  = 100P

8% Of the student at a school are in year 8

=> ( 8/100)100P =  8P

school has 126 year 8 students,

=>  8P  = 126

=> P = 63/4

=> 100P =6300/4

Hence total Students = 6300/4

16 % of the students are In year 9

number of year 9 students = (16/100)6300/4  =4 * 63 = 252

252 Students are in year 9
