Cotton and wool are natural fibres made from plant and animal materials. When they are made into a fabric, they are slightly porous and allow air to come in. They absorb water so much as they are porous. Due to this, it takes time for them to become dry.

Synthetic fibres like Nylon, Rayon, polyester,etc are all man-made or artificial fibres. They are made using chemicals. When they are knitted, we can find only tiny holes. As they don't have any space in between, they absorb less water and eventually dry faster.
