Given :   The petrol prices shot up by 7% . The price of petrol be-  fore the hike was 28 per litrer. Vawal travels 2400  kilometres every month  . his car gives a mileage 18 kilometres to a litre

To Find : increase in the  expenditure that Vawal has to incur due to the in-  crease in the price of petrol

Solution:

The price of petrol before the hike was 28 per litre

The price of petrol after the hike was 28+ (7/100)28  = 28*1.07  per litrel

increase in price = 28 * 0.07 rs litre

travels 2400  kilometres

mileage  18 kilometres to a litre

Petrol used in 1 month = 2400/18 = 400/3 litre

increase in expenditure  = 28 * 0.07 * 400/3

= 261.33

262  is  increase in the  expenditure that Vawal has to incur due to the in-

crease in the price of petrol
