When the solution of sodium carbonate is added to solution of calcium chloride, calcium carbonate and sodium chloride are formed as a products.

The chemical reaction involved in this process is as follows:

Na CO + CaCl ----> CaCO + 2 NaCl

Na CO + CaCl ----> CaCO + 2 NaCl ^2 ^3 ^2 ^3

(sodium (calcium (calcium (sodium

carbonate) chloride) carbonate) chloride)

(i) The colour of precipitate is white.

(ii) The white precipitate obtained in above reaction is calcium carbonate.

(iii)The reaction above is also double displacement reaction as displacement of elements occur between both compounds.

as precipitate is obtained, it is also called as precipitation reaction.
