SUMMARY:
A small good act of a person can make others good. It can change the entire
surroundings. The present story proves this. Gates Avenue was a short street in the
city of Cleveland. The families that live there were poor, they did not think a bout their
roads, water facility ortheir surroundings. A girl from this area, came to school. She
was not clean. Her dress was dirty and her hair untidy. The teacher thought of helping
the girl. She bought a bright blue dress for her. The next morning the girl came to
school with a clean face and neat dress. Her mother was impressed by her neatness.
She left her neglignce and started washing the kitchen after supper. The father mended
the fence.
Later a young minister of a church looked at them and tried to help them. He
collected money and arranged street lights and running water. Now Gates Avenue had
become a tidy street where the respectable citizens lived. The bright new blue dress of
he girl, helped to change whole in the area.
