Molarity is a concentration term in which the no. of moles and the volume are related.

Molarity (c)=no. of moles (n)volume in L (V)

Here

n=10 g40 g/mol

V=500 mL=0.5 L

So

c=nV

=10 g40 g/mol × 0.5 L

=10 mol20 L=0.5 molar
