Heya ☺

Let the total number of children be x. Then,

Number of girls = 80 % of x

= 80/100 × x

= 4x/5

Number of boys = 845

According to question,

4x/5 + 845 = x

=> 4x/5 - x = - 845

=> 4x - 5x/5 = - 845

=> - x/5 = - 845

=> x = - 845 × (-5)

=> x = 4,225

Hence, the total number of students are 4,225.
